Welcome to my wiki! I hope you will write and visit often. We can collaborate on projects, share ideas, post photos, presentations, and student work on the wiki. I share this site with teachers all over the district and state so we can learn from one another.
As you can tell, I'm a huge fan of Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory. I strongly believe in meeting the needs of all students and encourage teachers to look for the strengths in each child they teach.
So many times teachers only recognize or teach to the Linguistic Intelligence, which is great if all of your students are Word Smart, but what about those who are Body Smart, Nature Smart, Math Smart, Music Smart, People Smart, Self-Smart, or Picture Smart? We need to design lessons for those students as well. These students excel in other areas besides reading or writing. Our job is to incorporate these multiple intelligences as we teach reading, writing, science, social studies, math to let all students experience success in the classroom. That's my goal as a teacher!
Here are a few Multiple Intelligence tests, checklists, and activities that you can use to help you become the best teacher you can be.

Another area that I feel strongly about is using 21st Century Skills in the classroom to prepare our students for jobs that haven't even been created yet. By working in cooperative learning teams and using problem solving skills, students are able to create projects that combine life skills with technology skills. The Flip Video Camera is "one of the most siginificant electronic products of the year" as reported in the New York Times. If you haven't used the Flip Camera in your classroom, go buy one today. I use it every day when I work with students and record them using the Activexpressions, working on research projects, and creating digital stories. Check out a few of the videos I made using the Flip Video Camera. Videos of students

Hi Friends! I have learned so much at the Upstate Technology Conference! I'm going to show you how to do this and how to blog. We can write about school stuff, ideas and life in general. I'm still learning about this, too!

Great! I went home and created a wiki for my grad class next week. So inspiring. I am posting photos of children in action and asking grads to analyze documentation from the perspective of various learning and development/play theories. It would be neat to have "real" teachers/experts also add comments. I'm also thinking about creating a blog for new teachers BJU grads so they can share experiences, ask ?? and network with teachers here in Greenville. So good to see you at the conference, as always. I'll send you my wiki and blog pages as soon as they're up and running. I'm also going to try podcasting--wouldn't parents love to hear kids on a field trip! I'll show you what I learned from E. McIntosh (the great guy from Scotland). Too cool!

I'd love to comment on the pictures, also, if I could. I went back on Thursday and heard about podcasting. and creating a blog. I missed David Jakes, what was his session about? I'm getting Nick's old Nintendo games out and GameBoys to take to school, I already use Jake's old game boy with the camera attachment. Can't wait! How do we get these sandwich pictures off and put our own logo on? That's my goal today. Pray for Jake he gets his wisdom teeth out at 9:30 today.

Just didn't want you all to think that the first day of retirement I had completely forgotten how to capitalize and write a sentence!!

This is neat! I had no idea that this existed. I have recently been welcomed to the world of blogging by two friends, so this seems a little like that. Wow! I can't wait to see what all you do with your class next year. Can Jackson come back to first grade?! Or, we'll just let him be your Teacher's Assistant! Ha!

Yes, have Jackson come be my assistant next year! I learned about video conferencing and podcasting at the Upstate Technology Conference. I'm presenting at the ETV Conference in Columbia on July 29 and in Greenwood on July 30, fun times! I can't wait to see what all I can learn there.

Congratulations on your new position. I can't wait to see where this new path takes you. I viewed all your files easily (can I download and use these in my classroom? The Bloom's verbs and MI worksheet and 10 ways to a healthy brain are really helpful. And the power point with example student work are terrific resources for new teachers).
Can you link to these files in your sidebar or under the folders list to make navigating to them easier? It took me a bit to orient myself and find the upload/view files (duh!!).
